Government Skills is the skills body responsible for central government and the armed forces. Building skills in central government is critical to delivering better services to our customers. Government Skills works with government departments to help them identify common skills gaps and develop the skills of their workforce from tax inspectors and policy makers, to call centre staff and the armed forces.
Bringing together employers, training providers and educational bodies, Government Skills creates programmes to release the potential of the 800,000 individuals working in our sector. Its vision is that employers in the sector have ready access to the skills needed to serve the public and that all employees are supported to learn and to realise their potential.
