Government Skills is the Sector Skills Council for central government and the armed forces. Building skills in central government is critical to delivering better services to our customers. We work with government departments to help them identify common skills gaps and develop the skills of their workforce from tax inspectors and policy makers, to call centre staff and the armed forces.
Bringing together employers, training providers and educational bodies, we create programmes to release the potential of the 800,000 individuals working in our sector. Our vision is that employers in our sector have ready access to the skills needed to serve the public and that all employees are supported to learn and to realise their potential.
