Learning at Work Day on 14 May is the biggest annual celebration of workplace learning. It aims to draw attention to the importance of workplace learning and skills.
This year's theme is ' Skilled for Success' the focus on skills has already sharpened with the changing economic circumstances the government has announced more money and increased flexibility for training through Train to Gain, for example. During this unsettling time for workplaces, maintaining the ability and motivation to learn and adapt quickly to change will be essential reflecting on our skills needs both at an individual and a business level, and taking action where needed.
Learning at Work Day is part of Adult Learners' Week from 11 to 15 May. Adult Learners' Week encourages all adults across the UK to keep learning whatever their job, background or age, and whether for pleasure, to fill a skills gap or work towards a promotion or new job. It also brings individuals' learning achievements to a wider audience to inspire others to follow their example.
Adult Learners' Week has been running since 1992 and is coordinated by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) and supported by the Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills, the European Social Fund and Ofcom.
