Senior appointments at Government Skills

Government Skills is pleased to announce the appointment of two new team leaders – Chris Bloor and Gill Hammond.

From 12 January 2009, Chris Bloor will take up the post of Head of Account Management.

Chris brings over 20 years experience in account management, gained from customer facing roles in both the private and public sectors. A large proportion of her career has been spent in the technology sector, working for 3M UK, Digital Equipment (now Hewlett Packard), Marconi and more recently Lexis Nexis.

In 2002, Chris took a three year fixed term appointment at the Department for Work and Pensions where she was the National Sales Director for Jobcentre Plus. She led a significant programme of change in employer engagement. Since then she has worked in consultancy, including an interim role as Head of Sales and Account Management at The Land Registry.

Gill Hammond will lead the Operational Delivery Support Team from 19 January 2009.

Gill has extensive experience in a range of HMRC business, stretching back over a 30 year career in the former Department of Inland Revenue. She has worked in international tax, specialising in transfer pricing, and including representational work for UK at the OECD. She also worked as a Strategic HR Business Partner and was Project Director for the introduction of the Business Partner model at Inland Revenue. More recently she led large frontline work as Operations Director in PAYE/SA Processing (South) and the National Insurance Contributions Office.

Currently Gill is Programme Director for HMRC's PaceSetter (Processing) Programme, a major transformation programme for the processing business, covering development and implementation of a continuous improvement culture as well as leadership innovation, organisational development and workforce change.
