The Government Skills Sector Qualification Strategy (SQS) has been agreed by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. It provides an overview of the training programmes and qualifications that are currently being used across the Civil Service, based on research carried out in collaboration with government professions and the armed forces during summer 2008.

The SQS also explains how Government Skills continues to work with professions to review and where appropriate develop new qualifications.

Following publication of the SQS Government Skills is focusing on the development of a framework within which government departments will be able to define their approaches to qualifications in ways that address their business needs.
