Research

The Government Skills research team aims to deliver high-quality research on the central government sector. This is done in partnership with our research partner Experian, and in consultation with employers and educational and professional bodies in the four nations.

We focus on the areas below.

• Identifying current and future skills needs
• Understanding and mapping the supply of training provision
• Understanding the demand for qualifications in the sector
• Investigating the link between skills and productivity
• Highlighting best practice in organisations in terms of learning and skills
• Working with research teams from other Sector Skills Councils
• Ad-hoc research

The Government Skills footprint is diverse, so we aim to provide information on each sub-sector, as well as giving a comprehensive overview of the Government Skills workforce as a whole. We seek to provide data for each of the home nations and the nine English regions.

We have extensive knowledge of researching the central government sector using a variety of research methods, and can offer advice and guidance on projects you may wish to undertake.
