Skills Strategy evidence base

During 2007 Government Skills commissioned surveys of employers and employees in central government and of those providing training for our sector. This has provided a clear picture of current skills gaps – both at an individual and organisational level – and of what training provision is available to meet current needs.

The Skills Strategy for central government draws on these results and a range of other evidence.

Research was carried out with employers, employees and training providers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Findings showed a strong degree of commonality in the skills issues faced. Individual reports on the evidence base for each nation have been used to develop their action plans.
